Day 1 – Welcome + Adobe Route
11:00 AM (approx.): Departure from SFVC (downtown hotel or airport). 6:00 PM (approx.): Arrival in Tinogasta and check-in at assigned hotel. Description: After reception, we begin our journey to Tinogasta (approx. 3:30 h) crossing the foothills via National Route 60. Along the way, we explore the 3 most prominent points of the Adobe Route, a heritage circuit where centuries-old chapels, oratories, and colonial adobe mansions reveal the living history of western Catamarca. We visit spots such as El Puesto, La Falda, and Anillaco, framed by a natural environment that blends desert, mountains, and silence. Night at assigned hotel. TINOGASTA
Day 2 – Dunes and Fiambalá Hot Springs
8:00 AM (approx.): Departure from Tinogasta. 6:00 PM (approx.): Return to assigned hotel in Tinogasta. Description: We travel toward the striking Tatón Desert, home to some of the highest dunes in the world. At the Saujil Dunes, we enjoy a fun sandboarding experience surrounded by an incredible natural setting. Later, we visit the Fiambalá Hot Springs, a thermal complex nestled in the mountains with natural stone pools and waters ranging from 28°C to 51°C, ideal for relaxing body and mind. Day 3 – 4×4 Expedition to Balcón del Pissis
7:30 AM (approx.): Departure from hotel in Tinogasta. 5:00 PM (approx.): Return to hotel in Tinogasta. Description: We venture into the Route of the Six-Thousanders, home to some of the highest volcanoes in the world. Through a 4×4 expedition, we reach the Balcón del Pissis, a natural viewpoint at 4,550 meters above sea level, offering a view of Mount Pissis: the highest inactive volcano on the planet (6,792 m). Along the way, we cross high Andean lagoons, salt flats, and landscapes that seem out of this world, with the possibility of spotting vicuñas, flamingos, and other Andean species. Day 4 – Pumice Stone Field (Campo de Piedra Pómez)
8:00 AM (approx.): Departure from Tinogasta. 7:00 PM (approx.): Arrival in Antofagasta de la Sierra. Description: We set off for the Catamarca Puna to experience one of the most impressive journeys in the region. The Pumice Stone Field is a landscape unique in the world: thousands of white and pink formations sculpted by the force of ancient volcanoes and the wind. Throughout the 4×4 journey, we cross salt flats, deserts, and volcanoes that offer surreal views. An unforgettable experience in the heart of the high mountains. Night at assigned hotel. Day 5 – Antofalla Salt Flat
8:00 AM (approx.): Departure from Antofagasta de la Sierra. 5:00 PM (approx.): Return to Antofagasta de la Sierra. Description: We venture through the Catamarca Puna toward the stunning Antofalla Salt Flat, the longest in the world at over 150 km in length. The route takes us through extreme and silent high-altitude landscapes, unique for their beauty. We visit the Laguna Colorada, the surprising Ojos de Campo (three small lagoons of different colors), and the small town of Antofalla, an indigenous community located at 3,900 meters above sea level. A visit to the Botijuela area, featuring an active geyser, may be included depending on weather conditions and the guide's decision. Night at assigned hotel. ANTOFAGASTA DE LA SIERRA
Day 6 – Galán Volcano
8:00 AM (approx.): Departure from Antofagasta de la Sierra. 6:00 PM (approx.): Arrival in Belén. Description: We head toward the Galán Volcano, which possesses one of the largest volcanic calderas on the planet. A journey through imposing landscapes that seem from another world. We enter the crater and visit the serene Laguna Diamante, surrounded by volcanic walls, and observe active fumaroles sprouting from the ground as signs of ancestral life. We also explore Laguna Grande, a habitat for Andean flamingos and other migratory birds. A powerful tour of altitude and silence that showcases the wild immensity of the Catamarca Puna. Day 7 – Arañitas Hilanderas and El Shincal Ruins
9:00 AM (approx.): Departure from Belén. 5:00 PM (approx.): End of tour. Description: We begin with a visit to the Arañitas Hilanderas cooperative, where a group of women artisans keeps traditional spinning and loom-weaving techniques alive. An intimate and authentic experience with the textile soul of Catamarca. Then, we explore the imposing Ruins of El Shincal de Quimivil in the town of Londres. This archaeological site was one of the main capitals of the Inca Empire in the south of the continent. We walk among ceremonial structures, storage buildings, and the classic ushnu, from which the ancestral surroundings of the valley can be observed. Night at hotel in SFVC or transfer to SFVC airport.
